Totem Animals
Animal
totems offer spiritual guidance. To best understand the lessons
conveyed by animals that show up in our lives, we must learn more
of their instinctual behaviors, and natural habitats. Is the animal
nocturnal? Does it live in the desert or the tropics? Is the animal
solitary or lives in a pack? What type of diet do they eat? Answers to
these questions and similar questions will give you clues as to what
message is being offered.
Bat
In Honor of Hallowe'en, what else but bats for this week's totem animal?!
Bats (animal totem and dream symbolism)
Bats are the only mammals that fly. All flight implies a rising
above,the promise hidden within chaotic energies of change. The
presence of bats always indicate new perceptions and endeavors are
about to take
flight amidst the energies of change. Barriers will be pierced and newtruths will be uncovered.
Mythically,
the bat is an animal associated with the promise of rebirthand a time
of coming out of darkness. It was a sign of the shaman's death that
opened new vision. Any changes occurring now will be for the
best, although the benefits may not initially be recognized.
Change
and transition always bring a fresh outlook and perspective. That which
was not understood will become clearer. That which was not visible
will become able to be seen. Creativity and ideas will flow anew. We will see the truth in things we could not see before.
Bats
sleep with their heads down. This reflects a new perspective, the
awakening of new truths. Its message is the promise of new horizons and
unexpected views about to manifest.
In Nature bats serve a very
important role in controlling pest insects and in pollination. Even
their waste has benefit as a fertilizer,reflecting that however the
situations appear, ultimately they will work
to our benefit and we should not let our fears and worries get in the way.
The
bat has a medicine that awakens great auditory perception. They have a
form of sonar (echolocation) that gives them perfect navigational
abilities. They are able to perform amazing flying feats and detect subtle obstacles.
When
Bat arrives, so will an increased ability to discern the hidden
messages and implications of others' words. Listen as much to what is
not being said. Trust your instincts. The bat always indicates
initiation that brings the promise of new truth and higher perceptions
after the change.
Bats
are nocturnal, and night-time is often the home of our fears. If
reversed, Bat may be pointing out a failure to rise above situations in
our life. We need to take a new perspective; we need to let go of the
past.
We need to release or change some aspect of our life for rebirth to
occur. We must remember that change is only upsetting to the degree we
remain emotionally attached to what is no longer beneficial.
Bat
reminds us that every aspect of facing our fears has value for us; no
matter how messy it may seem to be. We may be resisting change that
could benefit us. Bat often challenges us to let go of the old and
create the new. We may have become so wrapped up in the material that we are not able to see the larger picture.
Questions to Ask:
Are we avoiding facing what is inevitable?
Are we refusing to see the truth of the situation?
Are we harbouring the attitude of "better the devil we know than the one
we don't"?
Are we letting our fears rule us?
Are our imaginings getting overblown?
Are we not seeing things for what they truly are?

Zincite
Zincite is a very rare
mineral, and has been found in New Jersey, but only as very small,
grain-sized crystals.Our Zincite comes
from Poland.
They formed by an unexpected "accident" where the conditions became just
right within large smoke stacks at a Zinc smelting facility in Poland,
forming these fantastic crystals which grow attached to the insides of the
smoke stacks. It is the result of an incidental breakage of the zinc
smelter walls. Significant changes of temperature and air pressure inside
the furnace created conditions supporting spontaneous growth of these
crystals in air vents and chimney channels.
We have some the last remaining
commercially available Zincite in the world. We do not know if we will be
able to get more once this supply is gone.
Metaphysical
Properties: personal power, physical energy, and creativity.
Stimulates electric currents within the body. Helps remove energy blockages.

Sending a Message to a Departed Love
1. Ink, your choice of color
2. Two black candles
3. Place paper between the two black candles
Write at the top of the letter:
"Thou who are mourned, see now the nature of this mourning: As thou
knowest now my sorrow, so on this paper I affirm it. I write thee my heart
here, for thy sight and that we may be bound by such silent words even
better than when our words were spoken. Receive this letter, a sign of my
commitment not to forget thee nor to cease mourning for thee until my own
life shall be ended"
4. Now write your feelings, emotions, devotion, memories, love, etc.
5. Fold the paper three times
6. Seal with herbs
7. Burn in a fire.

Sugar Fairy (Angelicae Sakcharonae)
Since most households watch their sweets during the day, the sugar
fairy tends to sneak into residential households at night in order to
devour any sugary foods. The pinkness of her wings deepens with the
amount of sugar she consumes. By day, she visits bakeries and
restaurants in hopes of snatching a bite of their sweets. Her presence
naturally increases the quality of sugar foods around her; some chefs,

Halloween Recipes
Here are some fun Halloween recipes to try!
Brittle Meringue Bones
3 large egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/8 tsp. salt
2/3 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 200F. Line cookie sheet with brown paper bag or
parchment. In a medium sized bowl at high speed, beat egg whites, cream
of tartar and salt till fluffy. Gradually beat in sugar. Add vanilla.
Place in pastry bag fitted with a medium plain piping tip. Pipe 3" bone
shapes onto parchment or brown paper bag. Bake 1 hour until set. Turn
off oven, dry in oven 1 hour. Be sure to store in airtight containers
or they will become soggy. Makes 4 to 5 dozen small finger-sized bones.
 Witches' Brew
(this one pretty much fills a 12-quart cauldron)
four 48 oz cans pineapple juice
one 96 oz bottle orange juice
four 2 liter bottles lemon-lime soda
one 1.75 liter bottle vodka
one 1.75 liter bottle rum
All measurements are approximate. Adjust to your own taste.
Mix well. Pour into your cauldron, preferably with chunks of dry ice to create the bubbling steam effect.
(Be careful NOT to drink or eat or in any way come in direct contact with skin with any chunks of dry ice - you can get burned by the extreme cold!) Source: www.britta.com/ |
